The Obama Administration changed the process for thousands of immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens and residents. Certain immigrant visa applicants who are spouses of U.S. citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents can now apply for a provisional waiver.  The provisional presence waiver process allows individuals, who only need a waiver, to apply for provisional waivers in the United States at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad.
